Engineering Technologist

Position Challenge / Qualification Profile

Position Summary: Reporting to the Transportation Manager, you will support the Calgary Branch in a variety of technical capabilities for civil and transportation projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Geometric design and drafting of roadways, intersections, roundabouts and parking lots
• Complete specifications, CAD drawings, quantity takeoffs, and cost estimates
• Review preliminary design plans and specifications prior to tender to ensure constructability of the proposal
• Accurately record and document pre-engineering and construction activities including payment, change orders and review of claims
• Communicate and work with other project team members to provide quality service to clients to ensure that all the documentation conforms to client/company standards
• Assist other departments and offices in the provision of services to clients
• Undertaking  mapping/GIS work
• Other duties as assigned    

Qualifications:

• Graduate of a Civil Engineering Technology Program and a member of ASET (or eligible)
• Three years relevant design/drafting experience on transportation facilities
• Demonstrated experience with AutoCAD, Land Development Desktop (LDD), Autoturn and Microstation
• Strong technical and analytical skills
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
• Previous consulting experience an asset
• Learns quickly, communicates effectively and work well within a team
• Valid Driver's License
